mcMMO is a skill plugin. Mining, swords, excavation, herbalism, and a dozen other jobs gain levels while you play, and those levels unlock abilities: a mining double-drop, a sword bleed, a faster tree chop. The server is usually still a survival or factions world. The plugin is what makes the grind feel like an RPG on top of vanilla work. Parties share bonus experience, a leaderboard shows the powergamers, and an admin may tune the rates so a new player is not useless for a month. You do not install a mod. The plugin is server-side. You do not install a mod. The world is still survival or factions. Parties can share a bonus, and a leaderboard shows who grinded. Check the rates. A server that levels you in an afternoon feels different from one that expects a month. The plugin is the RPG layer, not a separate map.
Not quite. An RPG server asks you to pick a class and follow quests. mcMMO lets you level several skills at once by doing the work, and you can ignore the ones you dislike. There is no quest book unless the host added one. If you want numbers on a character sheet and a story, look at RPG. If you want your pickaxe to get better because you mined, mcMMO is the fit.
