Anarchy means the usual server rules are gone. Griefing, raiding, hacking clients, and traps are often allowed, and staff will not roll back a base because someone blew it up. Players hide stashes, build with obsidian and end crystals, and treat every neighbor as a threat. Some worlds are pure chaos with dupes and illegal items. Others ban only the worst chat and leave the map itself lawless. You will see claims called factions even here, but the point is that nothing is protected for you. Seasons may last until the world is unplayable, then wipe. We have put a list of Anarchy servers below for players who want that kind of fight.

On an anarchy server the usual protections are gone. Raids, traps, and often hacked clients are part of the deal, and staff will not restore a base because someone found it. Hide stashes, assume neighbors are hostile, and read the short rule list anyway, because some hosts still ban the worst chat while leaving the map lawless. Seasons tend to run until the world is unplayable, then wipe. Join one when you want that risk, not when you want a town that is still standing next month.
Factions still gives your group a claim and a power score. Anarchy usually does not. You may see players call a base a faction out of habit, but nothing in the plugin is obliged to protect it. If the listing promises land claims, raid windows, and a faction chest, you are looking at factions. If it promises no rollbacks and no rules on the map, you are looking at anarchy.
An Anarchy server in Minecraft is a multiplayer server with no rules or restrictions, allowing griefing, stealing, hacking, and unrestricted PvP.
Top Anarchy plugins for Minecraft servers are AnarchyExploitFixes, 8b8tCore, Spark, ViaVersion, and NoCheatPlus. They fix exploits and lag without restricting anarchy play, profile performance, enable multi-version support, and offer configurable protections.
