Challenges give goals, a shop sells what the island cannot make yet, and a reset or a prestige lets you run it again faster. Coop islands let a friend build on the same plot. Some servers stay classic. Others add stacks of generators, pets, and minions. There is no open wilderness to wander. Food and a cobble source, in that order, unless the server starts you with both. After that, follow the challenge list instead of inventing a mega-build you cannot afford. Coop is worth it when a friend will actually log in. Read whether the nether is unlocked by an upgrade or by a portal you build yourself. That single rule changes the first week.
