Crossplay means more than one Minecraft edition can join the same world. The usual bridge is Geyser plus Floodgate: Java players use the normal IP, and Bedrock players on a console or phone use a port the host publishes. Combat, skins, and a few blocks will not feel identical, but the chat, the land, and the shops are shared. A listing in this category should show both a Java address and a Bedrock address, or say clearly that both clients are welcome. The mode behind it can be SMP, skyblock, or a minigame network. Both clients should see the same chat and the same builds. Scroll on for the Crossplay servers players are voting for right now.

Crossplay means Java and Bedrock players share a map. The usual bridge is a proxy that lets a console or phone join a Java host. Chat, land, and shops are shared. Combat, skins, and a handful of blocks still feel different, and that is normal. A proper listing prints both addresses, or it says clearly that both clients are welcome. The mode underneath can be SMP, skyblock, or a minigame. Test the client you actually own before you invite the other group.
Because the two editions are not the same game. Redstone, shields, and some entity limits diverge even when the world file is shared. A crossplay host can hide the worst gaps, but it cannot make every mechanic match. If your group is entirely on Java, a Java-only server will feel tighter. Choose crossplay when the people matter more than perfect parity.
Crossplay Minecraft servers are Java Edition servers using GeyserMC to allow Bedrock Edition players from mobile, consoles, and Windows to join and play together seamlessly. Floodgate often complements it for Bedrock authentication without requiring premium Java accounts.
No, playing Crossplay servers from a controller is not hard, as Bedrock Edition clients handle controller input natively just like any Bedrock multiplayer server. GeyserMC translates server data without affecting console controls, though some plugins may have minor UI incompatibilities.
